USA Nationals Special Olympics games

Max swim in the Special Olympics USA games in Orlando, Florida at the Rosen Aquatic Center. I took this picture.

Max swam the 100 freestyle and when he swam the Preliminary he swam it well. Then, when he swam the second heat of his 100 freestyle on a different day he was sick and still swam. He said when he was on the block he felt dizzy. He said while he was swimming he felt tired and worn out. Found out afterwards he was sick. He did not swim his normal time on a 100 freestyle. He still got second place. I was proud of him for trying. If I would of known he was sick I wouldn't of let him swim.

This was the first time Max swam the 100 IM he is glad he swam it.

Max had just swam the 100 freestyle relay with his swim team and in the same day he swam the Preliminary for the 100 butterfly. He did so well. I was proud of him.

Max's previous time in swimming the 100 butterfly was 1:10.10

USA Special Olympics Opening Ceremony June 5, 2022

Opening ceremony was hot and humid.

They started a hour and half late.

Max brother and sister in law came with us to Orlando.

You can see from the pictures how humid it was.

Who am I

I'm a mother of five amazing children and a grandma to eight adorable grandchildren. There is a 15 years span between my oldest and Max who is 24.
My life has been filled with speech
and occupational therapies, Special Olympics Arizona Swim Team practices. Max keeps me on my toes.
Never has there been a dull moment with having a special needs child. To be honest, it's made me learn to value what is important in life.

The things I like to do are, yoga, walking, gardening, writing, reading, cooking for my family and spending time with my family.

Max's interest are Baseball (especially the Diamondback's) swimming, eating homemade salsa, gardening, working with his chickens and Special Olympics. He also loves swimming with MAC (Mesa Aquatics Masters every morning. He has served a two year service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is now enrolled in College and wants to be an accountant. Max does not like to eat anything that is green.
