Max can tell me when he is hurting!

Max has been ill since Friday. He threw up at his sister's house on Friday night and started to run a high fever. I thought maybe he had the flu that I had two days before because he stayed in bed all day Saturday. Sunday morning at 3a.m. I had a large alarm clock wake me. Max jumped into bed with me, crying and repeating that his ear hurt. He startled me at first, but I became completely awake after hearing him express his pain. It came in full circle that the stomach upset was from the ear hurting. It's a joy to hear him tell me what hurts.  What a blessing.
Yesterday I took him to the doctor.
Max looks at the doctor with a plea for help. "I woke my mom up at three because my right ear hurt."
The doctor was shocked that Max was able to communicate this to him.  Max has been his patient since birth.
Found out Max has pink eye and a horrible ear infection.
LOOKS like we have graduated from me trying to find out what is brothering Max. To Max being able to tell me what hurts. Yay! Last night he was edgy walking in circles in front of the TV. I asked him if he was okay.  He responded, "My body is upset Mom."  I was concerned with how to help to him calm down. I gave him a hug and said, "How about a bath. I can pour warm water on your back."  He looked at me with his pink eyes and gave a faint smile.
After about an hour in the bath he calm down and wanted to watch Bonanza.  "Mom you have to stay with me. I need you with me." I sat next to his bed until he drifted off to sleep. Today he is having a hard time with the eye drops and he fights me with placing his hands over his eyes, just like he did when he was little. The years I spent daily rolling him up in blanket to give him medication have come back in full force.

Life is filled with ups and downs and for the time being we will entertain the downs part of life. Sickness has entered our home and soon I will push it out the door.
